Interest Groups

Thursday 17th November,            (L.D)

Departing Narellan at 9.00am, (a later start to let the peak hour traffic dissipate) our first stop today will be for lunch at the Ourimbah RSL, here we face another smorgasbord, so many things to choose from, don’t go to excess, for dinner tonight will be at the Cessnock Ex-serviceman's Club.

During the afternoon we will stop at Dobell House in the village of Wangi Wangi on the southern shores of Lake Macquarie .

Sir William Dobell is regarded as one of Australia's greatest artists with Archibald Prizes amongst his collection. http://www.dobellhouse.org.au/

The permanent display “Dobell, his Life and Art” is one of many interesting points here in his home. There are 13 panels contained in the display with over 100 images. Many other items of interest are also there to be admired by all visitors including furniture and an 80 piece dinner set.

From here we drive to Cessnock for a quick check-in at our motel before dinner at the Cessnock Ex-servicemen's Club.

Suitably replenished we venture to the magnificent Christmas Light display at the Hunter Valley Gardens, this will be a photographers delight.

After an interesting day it is only a short drive now to the motel and finally a chance to rest our weary legs.

Friday 18th November,      (B)

After breakfast this morning we travel across to the historic town of Morpeth on the banks of the Hunter River where after a short tour of the town we pause for morning tea before exploring all the little arts & craft stores around the town.

With Christmas just around the corner this will be a great opportunity to purchase a gift for that special someone.

Time for lunch at one of the many little café / coffee shops in the village before starting off on the homeward journey.
